Birthdays happen, even during social distancing. While it might be disappointing to have to cancel plans for large get-togethers, there are still plenty of ways you can make the day special for yourself or your loved ones.
Have a Virtual Party
Use Zoom, Facetime, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts or House Party to hang out with your friends or family virtually. Step it up by adding a costume requirement to attendees, or decorate the background with balloons and streamers.
Create a Drive-By Parade
Arrange for friends and family to drive by and say happy birthday to the birthday person! Set up some balloons outside and the birthday boy/girl can take a seat on the lawn and wave to their favorite people. It’s the perfect way to see their loved ones while following the 6-foot social distancing rules.
Watch a Movie Together
Watch Netflix with friends and family all from separate couches! While you can use regular video conferencing services, we recommend Netflix Party. Netflix Party synchronizes video playback and adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows. Just make sure the birthday person gets to pick the movie!
Play Virtual Games
There are a ton of great websites that make it easy to host virtual game nights (check out the Luv Your Life app for our favorites!) Pick a game, make sure everyone has plenty of snacks and refreshments and get playing!
Create a Memory Video
During this socially isolating time, there’s no better gift you could give a birthday person than a compilation of memories and wishes from the people they love most. Put together a slideshow with pictures, videos, and clips of friends and families giving their birthday wishes.
